Concrete Drying

Concrete is a material that continues to release water for months after it is poured. Setting and drying are not the same thing: concrete reaches its design strength in 28 days, but releasing the excess water inside it takes much longer. As thickness increases and drying occurs in only one direction, the duration extends rapidly.

This distinction is vital especially for epoxy and polyurethane coatings. These coatings are vapor-impermeable; when the moisture beneath cannot reach the surface, it creates pressure between the coating and the concrete, lifting the coating in the form of blisters. Redoing a floor of hundreds of square meters costs far more than the cost of drying.

No coating without measurement

Concrete moisture cannot be assessed by looking at the surface. Coating manufacturers require a specific residual moisture threshold, and if an application is made without meeting this threshold, the warranty is considered void. At TeknoDRY, we measure concrete moisture with the appropriate method, mark the measurement points on the plan, and report the results.

Our drying approach

In large, high-ceiling spaces, the volume is first calculated and an air exchange plan is prepared. In car parks and warehouses with low temperatures, the desiccant TTR series is preferred; these units continue to remove moisture even at around 0 °C. Surface air movement is provided with circulators, and if necessary, work is carried out zone by zone to optimize energy consumption.

Ambient values are recorded throughout the drying process. Once the target value is reached, written approval is given to the coating team — this is the documentation required for the application to remain under warranty.
