Moisture is a problem often postponed with the thought that "it will go away once we air it out," but it does not resolve on its own. A dark stain on the wall, mold behind the cabinet, a persistent mold smell, and recurring condensation during certain months of the year are all different manifestations of the same underlying cause: more moisture enters the space than can leave it.
Diagnosis first, then the solution
We do not begin moisture removal by simply installing a unit. First, we determine where the moisture is coming from; because moisture whose source is unknown returns the moment the unit is switched off. The points we examine on site are as follows:
- Water rising through capillary action from the floor and lack of horizontal insulation
- Condensation due to thermal bridging on the exterior wall and insufficient thermal insulation
- Hidden plumbing leaks or roof/terrace water infiltration
- Insufficient ventilation — especially in windowless bathrooms, basements, and archives
- Excessive moisture generation from usage: laundry drying, cooking, high occupancy
Why should mold be taken seriously?
Mold is not merely a visual issue. When relative humidity remains above 70% for extended periods, mold growth begins on surfaces; spores are released into the air, triggering respiratory complaints and allergies. Moreover, mold gradually damages the surface it takes hold of — it rots wood and causes paint and plaster to peel. Wiping the surface only temporarily removes the appearance but does not eliminate the root cause.
How is a permanent solution established?
Once the source is eliminated, we set up a system to keep the relative humidity of the space within the 45–55% range. In continuously used spaces, a humidistat-controlled dehumidifier is put into operation: the unit maintains the set value, stops once the target is reached, and automatically restarts when humidity rises. This keeps both energy consumption low and the environment consistently within a safe range.
For sensitive spaces such as archives, museum storage, and electrical rooms, we recommend continuous monitoring of humidity levels. The TTK series is suitable for small spaces, while the TTR desiccant series is appropriate for large and cold spaces.
